Kia Forte at Cape Girardeau: Safety comes first!

How does Kia Forte’s Blind Spot Collision Warning work?

The 2021 Kia Forte is everything any driver would want: It is safe, reliable, and fun-to-drive. What’s more, the Kia brand is adept at gauging the needs of its drivers. Its Driver Assist Technology is consistently updating and improving. So, the 2021 Kia Forte, like many other Kia models, comes with a Blind Spot Collision Warning (BCW). Here, we give you a lowdown of this technology.

First off, what is a blind spot?

The blind spot is that part of the road that you can’t see when you look forward through the windshield or when you use the rear-view and side-view mirrors. These blind spots can easily block another car, motorcycle, cyclist or pedestrian, which can be potentially dangerous.

How does the Blind Spot Collision Warning System work?

The 2021 Kia Forte is equipped with a radar sensor that alerts the driver when vehicles are detected in the blind spots. To activate the system, while the engine is running, press the button on the left side of the dashboard. An indicator light or a message in the instrumental panel will demonstrate that the system is active. Now when a vehicle is detected in the blind spot, the warning light will be illuminated, notifying you. If you by chance activate a turn signal in the same direction, the warning light will start to flash, and the system will issue an audio warning.

The 2021 Kia Forte comes with an Autonomous Emergency Braking system that detects an object, senses if a collision is imminent and automatically applies the brakes to prevent or reduce the impact of the collision. The Lane Departure Warning (LDW) gives the driver audio and visual warnings on the screen alerting the driver if they stray out of line unintentionally. The Electronic Stability Control (ESC) is a safety system that ensures that drivers remain on the intended path when there are any sort of sudden movements and reduces the probability of a crashes due to loss of control.
